We had trouble finding proper ponies for our children as they were either insanely expensive or came with attitude and/or training problems. So we decided to breed quality ponies that have been raised intelligently to provide a market niche as wonderful, solid mounts for children. Scarcely had we told a good friend of ours of our plans when she firmly said we must breed Connemaras!
After some research on the breed (http://acps.org/), all the information seemed to concur that the breed is particularly well known to be sturdy, of good size so as to be used by either by small adults or large children, intelligent, loyal, hard working, and calm. “Hmpf”, said we. Sounds like a good marketing campaign, but we’ll give it a shot!
After traveling to Idaho to check out a broodmare prospect, we were very impressed at how all the descriptions we had read were not exaggerations! We purchased Sagewind Dakota Sunshine (pictured below), an ACPS Approved mare, as our first broodmare. She has since proven many times over her intelligence and calm in a variety of situations.

Foaled on May 13, 2009, Seanachan is our first foal and one of 3 colts sired by Beau. As of now, Sean is the ONLY whole stud colt of *Castle Beau Geste, recipient of the American Connemara Pony Society’s 2007 An Totstal Trophy for the amazing successes of his get.
Seanachan has been thoroughly handled since birth. He is used to the farrier, children, dogs, Sand Hill Cranes, geese, goats, cattle, cats, receiving vaccinations and wormers, and is experienced in loading and traveling in trailers. He has an exceptionally calm demeanor; after his first trailering experience, he emerged from the trailer with his neck tense, his legs slightly splayed, and his eyes the size of dinner plates. After talking with him for about a minute and rubbing his neck, he completely relaxed and started sniffing and walking around curiously. That’s the most upset we’ve ever seen Sean!
Seanachan is available for purchase. In the meantime we plan on continuing to work with him and hope to take him for inspections in 2012 when has turned 3 years old. We feel that with his rare bloodlines, he has the makings of an excellent stallion for a breeding program.
